Blues dance is a family of Black American social dances (some solo, some partnered) that coevolved with different styles of Blues music throughout history, starting in the late 1800s and extending through today. Blues dance celebrates freedom of expression within community, improvisation, rhythm, and more!
**Evening schedule**
7-8pm: Intermediate class: Texas Shuffle pt2 - with Kevin & Julie
8-9pm: Community announcement fun times @ Community Studio
9-11pm: Social dancing DJed by Julie & Kevin, Costume contest @ 10pm
**Lesson info**
7pm: This week, we'll continue working on a blues dance called Texas Shuffle, with fun footwork and stretchy connection. This dance coevolved with West Coast blues, a subgenre of blues music that musicians like T-Bone Walker and Lowell Fulson (who were from Texas) developed in California.
No experience with Texas Shuffle required, but familiarity with blues dance basics are recommended. No partner necessary, as usual.
